Well what a great edition of Blackout Productions news for you this month! You may recall that in January we told you that 'Eyes in Dark' had been entered into the HP Lovecraft Film Festival? We’ll we’re very please to announced that it has officially selecting to be shown at the Festival! We can't
tell you how much this means to us as 'Eyes in the Dark' was written for HP Lovecraft fans and to be shown at a gathering of such fans and in the presence of Call of Cthulhu RPG writer Sandy Peterson is, well just an honour!
We’ve never been fans of film festivals as they seem to have become far too numerous with very little meaning behind them. However the HP Lovecraft Festival is more about gathering fans to watch the film set in and around the Cthulhu mythos. We’ve been invited to attend as a VIPs and appear on Q&A panel but sadly being in the UK we can’t just jump on a plane across the pond and join in which is such a shame as we’d love to be there. (Looks like we’ll have to save up for the plane fare and make another film entry for 2015!)
The US Premiere of Eyes in the Dark will see fans enjoying the story of a dying professor who tells a beautiful young journalist the secrets of his scientific discoveries that have put him decades ahead of his peers. What deeds does she uncover, what does this dying man have to tell and what are the
secrets behind the Eyes in the Dark. Get along to the Hollywood Theatre, Portland, Oregon for the HP Lovecraft Film Festival and find out!!

NIGHTMARE
In other news we’ve slipped a very quick entry into the My Rode Reel Contest 2014. The call for entries coincided with a kit test we were doing and we use Rode kit all the time so seemed worthwhile! We only had three hours on location to try the kit and lighting styles. Sadly the light levels we used were not enough for the 1.8 lens and 100 iso so we’ll know for next time when a shooting dark scene without using gain, get more lights! And on reflection out test probably should have had some dialog in there to show off the Rode mics a bit more!!

Another month down and better weather on the way means more film making coming soon. Lets see what it brings!
