Hello World. For all you geeks out there I'm told this is one of the first message send by computer so it’s fitting that a new website has it somewhere! So why a website all of a sudden? Well I've come to the conclusion Facebook sucks. I'm part of lots of groups and pages and whilst it's all good fun on the surface, behinds the scenes it’s all a mishmash of interconnected privacy invading, property stealing tosh which has forgotten the real meaning of bringing people together online. There are plenty of benefits to facebook but also plenty of drawbacks. Recently UK law has changed which allow people like instgram and facebook to OWN your pictures that you put online and sell them onto anyone they like. I just think that's wrong and whilst weebly is by no means 100% secure I'll be happier posting picture and text here. Well enough is enough. Yes I’ll be in facebook but I’ll try and put all the content we produce here so you don’t have to sign up to Facebook or google+ and the like. A simple click and it all here.
So that’s the reasons why but what have we been up to? Well drop over to the Films page and look up a Devon Made Christmas. You can read all about it there but suffice to say we didn’t win £5000 in an ITV competition but we had a really fun time making a short Christmas video!
What else? Blackout productions has been helping director John Tomkins in his endless stream of films that he keep creating! After a Dark Tale and Indieatro we’re into the next project ‘The Letter’ which sees a rather realistic chase across Exeter by evil henchmen! It was so real, one person tried to call the police worried for the safety of the lead actor! We’re back filming with John later in the month so look out for new about that in Feb.
December saw us submit an script to Creative England which I guess wasn't arty enough for them so it was turned down so I my pop that in the project box for people to have a read.
Blackout Productions short film 'Eyes in the Dark' was screened at the Two Short Nights Film Festival - we would have attended and taken a picture but after three visits to the festival box office and each time our complimentary tickets were no where to be found we kinda gave up!!
We're in the process of finishing up our audio version of Shakespeare's Macbeth so look out for that one on Burns nigh on the 26th of January - well, it is the Scottish Play!
To round up then, what plans for 2014? First up we will be finishing Dark Destiny before anything else. That's our time travelling Victorian Assassin web series which is a text book on how not to make film so look out for that later in the year! March time we'll have a film screening somewhere and at some point we may well try our hand at a pop video!
So Happy New Year everybody, we hope you have a really positive one and we look forward entertaining you with what we produce here at Blackout Productions!
